Loving Lately: Patterned Tights

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Tights are one of my favorite fall/winter accessories. I love to dress up an outfit and add a pop of color by wearing colored tights. Although lately, I've been loving patterned or printed tights. They are super easy to put on, very affordable and give your outfit a wow factor. Plus, just like everything that gets my Pink Stamp of Approval, they take a boring outfit and make it fab!

It took me a little while to figure out how to wear patterned tights without looking like I was getting dressed for Halloween. In my opinion, you need to balance out the tights with solid colored items otherwise you will look like you are playing dress up with a 5 year old.

I found these patterned tights at Macy’s and couldn’t wait to add them to my wardrobe. I paired them with a basic black pencil skirt and a satin royal blue top, plus I added my Isadora Pearl Bib necklace. I learned a rule from an old theatre friend a long time ago: wear two plains and a fancy! That’s what you need to remember when wearing these tights, you don’t need five fancies messing up the look. So pairing patterned tights with solid colors will balance everything out. And the tights make a work appropriate outfit so much more fun to wear!

  1. I love the 2 plains and a fancy rule. I am going to use it! I also love patterned tights. However, I hate when they get twisted and I have to rearrange the pattern when I put them on...haha. Stopping by from the link up!

  2. I like patterned tights only when the tights are non-sheer, so they are more like socks with knit-patterns, if that makes any sense. I just have the feeling I cannot pull them off and also, I hate drawing attention to my legs too much. But your legs look just lovely with those tights and I love the blouse-necklace combo!

    1. I agree, I don't always like to draw attention to my legs. That's why I paired a knee length skirt. Thanks for the compliments!
