Beauty Products for Long Lasting Makeup

As a beauty lover with oily skin, I've struggled with makeup meltdown A LOT. Summer, winter, whenever, my makeup used to be nonexistent by the end of the day. I am somewhat of a beauty junkie as I'm always willing to try new beauty products and see what the latest and greatest is (except for my skincare...that is constantly Rodan + Fields). Today I'm going to share four products that are tried and true and have helped me FINALLY discover the secret to long lasting makeup. And the great news, any skin type can use the first three of them (the last one is really just for people with oily skin)!

First let me say, I learned when I was in my mid-twenties that if you want good makeup, you really do need to have a good skincare routine. So take a good look at what you are using under your makeup before you try to cover up so many problems with makeup. I've also learned that sometimes drug store products do the trick and are exactly what you need. But there are other times where you do have to pay a bit more for quality products with quality ingredients if you want flawless skin and makeup.

My Favorite Beauty Products to Prevent Makeup Meltdown

Beauty Products to Stop Makeup Meltdown

1.) Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
This is my ride or die beauty product, I use this setting spray every single day because it works so well. I always apply this immediately after my makeup is complete and my makeup lasts all day. The spray is a fine, weightless mist that coats your face and helps your makeup stay where it should. Sephora's website claims it will keep your makeup looking freshly applied for up to 16 hours! I use probably 6 quick sprays and I'm done. You don't want to overspray your face and dampen your makeup. You will likely feel the spray on your face for about 10 seconds, but then it is dry and good to go!

2.) Rodan + Fields Active Hydration Serum
Because my skin is super oily, I never dreamed that I would need a hydration serum, let alone that it could actually help! It turns out that my skin wasn't properly hydrated, which caused my skin to overcompensate and produce additional oil. This miracle serum has really helped reduce the amount of oil my skin produces thus making my makeup look better each day. I use this product at night, after I've washed my skin and applied toner. I use half a dropper (the full dropper was a bit too much for me) and lightly rub the serum all over my face. I love that not only does this product help me with oily skin, it also really helps people with dry or sensitive skin. AND you get the bonus of having skin that acts and looks younger too!!!!
(If you have any questions about this or any Rodan + Fields product, just ask me!)

3.) Make Up For Ever High Definition Powder
This microfinish powder is what I use if I'm going to a special event or having family photos taken. This finishing powder blurs the look of your skin's imperfections - who doesn't want that?!?! I don't use it everyday, but if I need to guarantee that my makeup will remain looking flawless I will apply this. This stuff gets the job done! I dip a brush into the powder, tap off the excess and brush all over my face. I usually apply this about 10 minutes after I've completed my makeup and applied my setting spray (#1 above). It is the last thing I apply before I leave the house. A little bit of this powder goes a long way too!

4.) Rodan + Fields Oil Control Lotion
This lotion is my makeup primer every single day. It is a super lightweight lotion that contains SPF and helps to soak up an additional oil. I use a tiny pea sized amount which covers my whole face. There is no greasy feel and my skin also doesn't feel overly dry or tight after applying. This is my last step after cleansing and toning my face each morning. I typically apply the lotion, let it dry and then start to apply my makeup as normal.
